Overview
The presentation will focus on providing case managers and the MDT with an insight into the role of specialist bathing for clients who have suffered a traumatic injury. We will start by exploring the challenge of balancing rehabilitation with adaptation and/or equipment, and challenging the client centred nature of bathing assessments specifically. Within all clinical fields, but even more so in the personal injury arena, communication of evidence base is paramount in securing funding for recommendations and therefore we reflect on what evidence exists to support specialist bathing and how it can or should be applied.
Learning Outcomes
- Reflect on the challenge in balancing adaptations and rehabilitation
- Discuss the importance of bathing as a meaningful occupation
- Consider the impact of bathing on pain, reflecting on the research
