Abacus to demonstrate award-winning Gemini MX and Libra baths at Kidz South
Abacus Specialist Bathroom Solutions, the specialist manufacturer of accessible baths for children with disabilities, will be showcasing two of its latest innovations at Kidz to Adultz South – the Gemini MX and Libra baths.
Kidz to Adultz South, Thursday 1st May 2025, 9.30am – 4pm, Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre (Gate F, GU14 6TQ). Free entry and parking. Stand C8.
The Gemini MX offers a breakthrough in versatility, support and comfort for semi-ambulant bathers. Its specialist mattress and unique dual lift technology combine to achieve a solution that won the ‘OT Show Best in Show Award’ last year when launched. The user experience is enhanced and moving and handling is easier, ensuring the overall bathing process is positive, safer and more fulfilling. Abacus Product Assessment Managers will be on hand throughout the show so all visitors, whether occupational therapists or young users, can trial the bath first hand.
To enhance its integrated changing, drying and bathing platform, the Gemini MX is now supplied with a new specialist mattress as standard. Its winged features provide an extra padded transfer area which is ideal for dynamic bathers. With a textured surface for additional grip, it is supplied in two halves for easy handling, cleaning and storage. Over and above the mattress, the MX also provides an extra-large two-metre-long bathing space, soft close platform, built-in BioCote antimicrobial protection, multi- position back and footrests, safety rail, obstruction sensors and a range of therapeutic/sensory options.
Alongside the MX, Abacus will be offering live demonstrations of its new Libra bath. The Libra bath range, with bather transfer seats, includes fixed height and variable height models with the option to choose a built-in leg lift. This feature enhances the powered seat which lifts, rotates and lowers a bather into the bath. If an individual needs assistance to lift their legs over the side of the bath, the leg lift means a carer or relative does not need to help manually. This reduces the risk of back or muscle strain for the carer and increases dignity for the bather. Once in the bath, the Libra provides a spacious and supportive space for hygiene and therapy. If the variable height model is chosen, then the bath can be lifted so carers can engage at eye level and the risk of injury from stooping or excessive bending can be avoided.
In addition to the baths on the stand, there will be the opportunity to takeaway a range of free helpful guides and literature, discuss specialist bathing needs on a one-to-one basis and have the chance to win a cuddly version of the Abacus mascot, Trevor the Turtle.
